Celebration in honor of the 165th anniversary of Mashkhur Zhusup Kopeev.

In Bayanaul district - the birthplace of the great poet, historian, ethnographer - an ethnoaul of more than 100 yurts was erected, one of which was installed by the Ekibastuz GRES-1 company. The yurt town is located in the Eskeldy tract.

The festivities began after the reading of the prayer in the mausoleum complex Mashkhur Zhusup Kopeev, which was built in 2006. Akim of the region Asain Baykhanov, Chairman of the Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerlan Koshanov, representatives of the intelligentsia and the scientific community of the region took part in the celebration.

Aitys, competitions in national sports "Kokpar", "Baige", festive trade of artisans, etc. were organized for the guests of the holiday. In total, the holiday gathered more than 20 thousand people.

Mashkhur Zhusup Kopeev is a poet, writer, philosopher and connoisseur of Kazakh folklore, who was born in Bayanaul district in 1858. In 1870 he studied at the Bukhara madrasah. Since 1875, he worked as a teacher in the village and was actively engaged in journalistic activities. A good knowledge of Arabic and Persian languages allowed him to study the poetry of the East in depth. In 1887-1890 he visited Samarkand, Bukhara, Tashkent, Turkestan in order to get acquainted with the life and culture of the peoples of Central Asia. Mashkhur Zhusup collected and published many samples of Kazakh oral folk art.
