GRES-1 Hosts Internet Fraud Prevention Awareness Meeting

On June 12, Ekibastuz GRES-1 hosted an informational awareness meeting for the company's employees on the topic of Internet fraud prevention. The event was organized as part of ongoing efforts to prevent crimes committed through modern digital technologies and to improve legal and financial literacy.
Representatives of government and law enforcement agencies addressed the workforce:
• Zhakiya Gainidenovich Samarov – Senior Operative Officer of the Pavlodar Region Department of Economic Investigations;
• Elukhan Samatovich Yergebayev – Head of the State Legal Department of the Office of the Akim of Pavlodar Region;
• Azamat Zhumabekovich Tokumov – Head of the Criminal Police Department of the Ekibastuz City Police Administration.
During the meeting, the speakers discussed the most common internet fraud schemes currently used by cybercriminals. Particular attention was paid to new forms of fraud involving artificial intelligence technologies. Participants learned how criminals use fake voice messages, video calls, and other digital tools to impersonate relatives, colleagues, company executives, bank employees, and government officials.
Employees were reminded of the importance of following digital security practices, including protecting personal data, bank card details, passwords, and verification codes, as well as carefully verifying any information before making financial decisions.
The law enforcement representatives shared real-life examples of fraud cases recorded in the region, explained how to recognize fraudulent schemes, and provided practical advice on protecting oneself from cybercrime. Special emphasis was placed on preventing telephone and online fraud and on the importance of promptly reporting suspicious activities to law enforcement authorities.
The meeting concluded in an open dialogue format, giving employees the opportunity to ask questions and receive practical recommendations on staying safe in the digital environment.
