A modern video surveillance system incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) technologies has been implemented at Ekibastuz GRES-1 named after Bulat Nurzhanov. More than 200 intelligent cameras have been installed across the power plant, providing round-the-clock monitoring of occupational safety compliance and promptly detecting abnormal situations.
The system automatically identifies safety violations, analyzes video streams in real time, and instantly sends notifications to responsible personnel, specifying the location, time, and nature of each incident. The solution includes facial recognition, speed monitoring, event logging, advanced video analytics, and automated personnel notification functions.
An additional layer of control is provided by smart safety helmets equipped with live video streaming capabilities, enabling real-time monitoring directly from work sites. To ensure the stable operation of the digital infrastructure, a dedicated Wi-Fi network has been deployed throughout the station, while continuous monitoring is carried out 24/7 from a specialized operations center.
A key feature of the project is the system's continuous learning capability. Specialists regularly analyze the performance of AI algorithms, validate legitimate detections, and eliminate false alerts. This ongoing optimization continuously improves the accuracy of artificial intelligence and enhances the overall effectiveness of production safety monitoring.
The implementation of these digital technologies marks another important step in Ekibastuz GRES-1's commitment to strengthening its occupational safety management system and creating a safer working environment for all employees.
