The visiting meeting of the Samruk-Kazyna Public Council was held in Ekibastuz

A visiting meeting of the Public Council of Samruk-Kazyna JSC was held in the city of Ekibastuz, chaired by Bolat Zhamishev. The members of the public council visited the key energy facilities of the region, which are part of Samruk-Energo JSC. They visited the Bogatyr Komir section, Ekibastuz thermal Power Plant, Ekibastuz GRES-2 and Ekibastuz GRES-1, where they got acquainted with the current status of investment projects and preparations for the upcoming heating season. At the meeting of the Public Council, reports on the results of the work of Samruk-Energo JSC for 2023 and plans for 2024 were heard. Ernat Berdigulov, Managing Director for Strategy and Asset Management at Samruk-Kazyna JSC, noted that energy sector projects occupy a significant share in the Fund's portfolio.

"Today, Kazakhstan has a capacity of 16 GW. In the future, due to the ongoing projects, Samruk-Kazyna JSC plans to introduce another 12 GW of capacity. Thus, generation will be doubled, which will solve the issue of sustainability of energy supply during peak consumption periods. Now the electric power industry of Kazakhstan is experiencing a "renaissance", - said Ernat Berdigulov.

Chairman of the Management Board of Samruk-Energy JSC Kairat Maksutov reported on the main production indicators of the company. The total electricity generation by subsidiaries in 2023 amounted to 35.3 billion kWh, or about 31% of the total electricity generation in Kazakhstan. In 2024, it is planned to increase the volume of electricity production to 39.2 billion kWh.

If 83 units of basic equipment were repaired in 2023, then 116 units of equipment will be repaired in 2024.

"At our facilities, preparations for the autumn-winter period are in full swing according to the schedule. As of today, almost 50% of the planned repairs have been completed. Everything necessary is being done to provide residents with stable energy and heat supply. The repair campaign will be completed in full on time. Due to the active repair work, we reduce the degree of wear of power plants from year to year," said Kairat Maksutov.
