Bulat Nurzhanov Ekibastuz GRES-1 LLP (hereinafter EGRES-1 LLP) is an operating power plant with a design installed electric capacity of 4000 MW (8 power units of 500 MW each, power unit No. 1 under restoration work). The plant's installed capacity is 3,500 MW. The operating mode of the power plant is round-the-clock, year-round.
The main fuel for power boilers is high-ash coal from the Ekibastuz deposits, and fuel oil is fuel oil grade M-100. Flue gas emissions from the power boilers of the station are emitted through two pipes No. 1 and No. 2, 300 m and 330 m high, with a mouth diameter of 13.26 m and 11.9 m, respectively.
To reduce the content of suspended solids in flue gases emitted into the atmosphere, power units st. No. 3, No. 4, No. 5, No. 6 are equipped with electric filters of the "LodgeCottrel" type, at the power unit st. No. 2, No. 7, No. 8 CJSC AlstomPowerStavan.
Suppression (reduction of concentration) of nitrogen oxides at the plant is carried out by optimizing the process of fuel combustion in boilers (regime-technological methods).
The largest power plant in Kazakhstan, EGRES-1 LLP, annually implements an environmental action plan program aimed at minimizing the negative impact of production activities on the environment.
atmospheric air. Air emissions control at the plant is carried out in accordance with the Industrial Environmental Control Program, which ensures effective monitoring of the impact of the plant's production activities on all components of the environment.
Based on the results of chemical monitoring of natural environments, no facts of exceeding the maximum permissible concentrations in water, soil, and atmospheric air were recorded. Thus, the impact on the environment is within acceptable limits.
Control over emissions into the atmosphere is carried out in accordance with the draft Standards for Maximum Permissible Emissions of Pollutants into the Atmosphere.
Based on the permit for emissions into the environment No. KZ10VCZ00220983 dated December 19, 2018, Ekibastuz SDPP-1 named after Bulat Nurzhanov LLP in 2022 is allowed to emit pollutants in volumes not exceeding 289 thousand tons.
Monitoring of water resources. The source of water supply is the K. Satpayev canal, on which there are two water intakes: one water outlet is for replenishing the cooling reservoir, the second water outlet is for household needs and the preparation of chemically desalinated and chemically purified water for power and hot water boilers.
Water metering through the head of the HVO is carried out using water meters installed at the inlet of the WLU, HVO-I and II stages of the starting boiler house and the drinking water preparation plant "Struya". A daily accounting of the amount of water consumption and water disposal is carried out, no deviations from the specific norms were observed.
Special water use at the station is carried out on the basis of permit No. KZ86VTE00079542 Series Ertis.
For the station, a circulating cooling system with a bulk reservoir-cooler Zhengeldy was adopted.
Sampling and analysis of surface water samples (reservoir, canal, recycled water, GZU) is carried out with the involvement of an accredited laboratory.
Production waste monitoring. The main type of production waste at the enterprise (in the process of coal combustion in boiler furnaces) is ash and slag waste, which is sent by hydrotransport to the ash dump in accordance with the design documents.
The ash dump, located in the drainless basin of the previously dried bitter-salty lake Karasor, is located 22 km to the east of the station site.
The formation and disposal of ash and slag waste and production waste is accounted for on a monthly basis.
Based on the permit for emissions into the environment No. KZ10VCZ00220983 dated December 19, 2018, Ekibastuz SDPP-1 named after Bulat Nurzhanov LLP in 2022 is allowed to dispose of production and consumption waste in volumes not exceeding 5,778 thousand tons.
Achievements in the field of environmental protection.
In order to minimize the impact on the environment, the following work has been done:
- Increase in ash collection efficiency from 97% to 99.5%. As a result of the reconstruction of the ash collection system, the dust content of flue gases decreased from 1600 mg/nm3 to 400 mg/nm3;
- Work was completed on the installation of low-emission burners at the boiler unit st. No. 2, as a result, the concentration of nitrogen oxides in the outgoing flue gases decreased from 850 mg/Nm3 to 650 mg/Nm3.
- A project was implemented to switch to modern membrane technologies for water purification by reverse osmosis, which made it possible to ensure a high degree of water purification, eliminate the formation of wastewater contaminated with aggressive chemicals (alkali, sulfuric acid), and reduce the generation of hazardous waste (ion-exchange resins). The process control system is fully automated.
- Measures were taken to repair and replace ash pipelines, which made it possible to ensure reliable safe transportation of ash and slag waste to the ash dump, to eliminate the risk of ski pollution of the environment by ash and slag waste.
- The station carries out environmental activities in accordance with the requirements of international standards ISO 14001.
Employees of EGRES-1 LLP actively participate in the announced months of improvement and sanitary cleaning of the city of Ekibastuz in the assigned territory: on the street. M. Auezov - Power engineers to Korolev; from Koroleva street to M. Mametov street.
LLP "EkibastuzGRES-1 named after Bulat Nurzhanov" pays great attention and attaches particular importance to the issues of ecology and environmental protection. We strive to work, develop production, while maintaining a favorable environment for future generations.
